Built
by the family of Robert Morris, the financier of the revolutionary war, Chanceford
Hall is a gracious two hundred thirty-year-old grand lady. The Greek revival
manor house, with more than 6,000 square feet of finished space, combines both
Georgian and Federal original details to create many sumptuous rooms. Elaborate
crown moldings, chair rails, fireplace mantels, paneled doors with original
hardware and wide plank wood flooring are a few of the details that decorate
the ten foot high ceiling rooms. Proportions are grand but definitely American
in scale.
Individually
placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department
of Interior, Chanceford Hall embraces the modern world with elan. The house
is centrally heated and air-conditioned. All rooms have private, modern baths.
The ten fireplaces are in good working order. A complete electrical upgrade
and replacement of wiring allow Chanceford Hall to meet today's electrical needs.
An in ground lap pool is available for exercise or relaxation.
