Snow Hill, Maryland was founded in 1642 along the scenic Pocomoke River, chartered in 1686, and made a Royal Port in 1694. The county seat of lower Eastern Shore's Worcester County, Snow Hill is rich in history. The town has more than one hundred historic homes of more than a hundred years standing and still in use today, Chanceford Hall being one of these residences situated in the historic district.
